We are so excited for the 35th Annual Community School Strawberry Festival this weekend!
The festival is one of Roanoke’s most popular and well-known annual festivals. It will be held Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 in the newly renovated Elmwood Park. The festival will run 10:00 am to 5:30 pm on Friday and 10:00am -4:00pm on Saturday.
Advance sale Strawberry shortcake tickets are available at all Hometown Bank locations, and online.
Friday will feature, the full Strawberry Festival menu: homemade strawberry shortcake, strawberry sundaes, chocolate-dipped strawberries, strawberry slushees, and strawberries and cream.
In addition “make your own” bulk kits can be pre-ordered for pickup or delivery that day. These kits can be shared with your friends and family right away or frozen to enjoy later.
Saturday will again offer those delectable berry treats, as well as live music, arts and crafts and food vendors. We will have an inflatable Velcro “sticky wall” and an obstacle course as part of children’s games this year, as well as, face painting, rainbow loom projects, decorate you own tye dye bracelets and more.
The Strawberry Festival, one of Roanoke’s oldest and most beloved festivals is a family-oriented event and a big attraction for kids of all ages. Always the first full weekend in May, the Strawberry Festival signals the beginning of summer and the festival season in the valley. General admission to the festival is free and parking is available in any of the municipal lots, the downtown parking garages and on the street.
