Meet Emily Fielder

emily fielderEmily Fielder may not be a native, but the 2005 and 2010 Hollins University grad has certainly found her niche here in the Roanoke Valley. Currently a Project Associate at Virginia Career VIEW, Fielder also serves on the Boards of both Apple Ridge Farm and Junior League of Roanoke Valley. Somehow, she still finds time to pursue her doctoral degree. She is passionate about promoting local voluntarism and further developing the potential of other women through her roles in the community.

Pure Barre Update!

New Image4156Bella girls Stacey, Cory and Hayleigh continue to enjoy their Pure Barre workouts each week! Every class is still challenging, but their ability to concentrate and learn the routines has increased. They have also learned something very important about getting in shape: your weight is literally JUST a number.

“I have not lost weight, but my clothes are too big. Inches have disappeared from my waist and I feel more confident every day,” explains Hayleigh. “Getting healthy and losing fat from your entire body does not happen after the first class, the second class, or even the third! It is a permanent lifestyle change you have to make in order to really see and keep your results.”

They also continue to value the personal interaction they have with instructors before and after class. The encouragement is inspirational and something they carry with them once class is over. “To date, the most apparent transformation that has taken place through my Pure Barre experience has been my strength,” says Cory. “My arms are toner, my core is tighter and my confidence in myself and ability has grown.”

Visit www.purebarre.com for details on how to sign up for your first class and begin your journey to a better, healthier body today.

Stay tuned– our November issue will feature the final results!

Meet Anne G. Fox

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAnne G. Fox is a mother of five, a Girl Scout Troop Leader, and an eleven year breast cancer survivor. But to me, Anne G. Fox has always been my Kindergarten teacher. She inspired me at a young age to learn and strive for educational Anne Foxsuccess. She made learning fun, from making “magic pancakes” to “edible green goo”. Things I learned in her class are things I will never forget. I’m sure that throughout her twenty-one years of teaching at Oak Grove, she has inspired many other young students. Only one word can describe Anne G. Fox: Extraordinary.

Ladies Night Out!

On April 10th, 2014, join the Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA) for Ladies Night Out at Phase 2 in Lynchburg. This is the perfect opportunity to get out with your girlfriends and get great deals on shoes, handbags, and more! Plus indulge in facials, massages, and manicures from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. All proceeds benefit abused and neglected children in your community. Many in Lynchburg remember this event as the Heart and Sole Shoe Market, or the “CASA Shoe Sale.” With changes in the shoe industry that occurred several years ago, we were no longer able to get thousands of donated shoes for the fundraiser. Since we could not afford to spend tens of thousands of dollars on shoes to resell to the public, our board was forced to make a decision. We either had to cancel the event or restructure it.

doorprizes

With over a decade of success, we opted to restructure to a Ladies Night Out format. Last year was the first year of the new format and it was successful! We are hoping to build on that year after year as these funds are critical to our mission. With your $40 ticket (or cheaper if you get one of our girlfriend bundle packages), you will receive admission, a chance to win a door prize, one adult beverage ticket, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and optional beverage choices.

Admission includes the opportunity to shop in our Heart and Sole Boutique which will include, yes…you guessed it: SHOES, handbags, fragrances, and more at discounted prices. There will also be music, a photo booth, massages, manicures, and more! Plus 15 vendors will be on hand to showcase their products and services.

Get your girlfriends together and come out to support a wonderful cause! Follow this link to purchase your tickets, and we look forward to seeing you there!
